In today’s video the topic I wanted to cover is feeling worthy of being paid to do what you love. There’s a lot of female entrepreneurs out there who are in the helping profession, perhaps they’re coaches, or what have you. They’re heart centered entrepreneurs as some people like to call it and, they struggle with feeling worthy about being paid to do what they love. Or they feel guilty about it because they love what they do, it doesn’t feel like work to them, and if they’re paid really well, it causes a certain amount of discomfort because so many people around us work in jobs and don’t like what they do. So to actually love what you do and make a lot of money doing it is kind of bizarre. Like there’s probably only about 5% or 10% of the population that feels that way. So loving what you do and being paid well can potentially setup a lot of negative emotions as a heart centered entrepreneur.
But what I’d like to caution you about is that if there is any of that in your psyche, what you might find is that you’ll start attracting clients who beat you down on your rates. And they’ll kind of bring that guilt forward to you. And I know I was in a situation like that several years ago when I was coaching and I was attracting a lot of clients that were not my ideal and on top of that, they were beating me down on my rates. So what was happening was kind of reflecting was what going on inside in my unconscious or subconscious … whatever you want to call it. But, I’m happy to report that I tapped out all those unworthy feelings and attracted a lot more success. So let’s just see if we can help you with that today it that’s an issue for you.
Tapping on the karate chop point …
Even though I feel guilty being paid to do what I love, and being paid to do something that helps others, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have some guilt and some shame, and perhaps some unworthy feelings around being paid to do what I love and to help others, I’m choosing to release these negative emotions now.
Even though I sometimes struggle, being a heart centered entrepreneur with feelings of unworthiness, or guilt, or shame around being paid to do what I love, and being paid well for it. I’m open to letting go of those feelings now.
I can’t get paid to do what I love, it’s not fair, there’s a lot of others who struggle out there, and who hate what they do, so for me to love what I do and make a great income doing it, it makes me feel guilty. I don’t feel worthy of that kind of success when there’s a lot of other people out there who struggle and don’t love what they do.
After all I’m helping people, so it doesn’t feel right to charge people for it. There’s something that doesn’t feel right about that to me. But I want to make a good income and do what I love, and love what I do. And I can see how this might be holding me back from earning more so I’m open to letting it go. I’m open to letting this all go, these feelings of unworthiness.
These guilty feelings I have around earning income from helping others and doing what I love. I’m choosing to let this go, and letting in feeling good about helping others. And there’s a saying that goes, “I serve therefore I deserve.” So if you look at doctors or nurses, doctors particularly, they earn an excellent income and they’re in the helping profession.
And most of them are effective in helping people and they don’t get hung up with feelings of unworthiness because they have expertise that they’re using to help others. And myself as a heart centered entrepreneur, I have gifts and talents to share too, just like anyone else. I deserve to be well paid for what I do and to feel confident in what I earn.
I’m allowing myself to feel good about what I earn, and about earning more for helping others to achieve their goals. I’m opening up to feeling good about being paid for what I do, and being paid very well for it because I’m helping people. I serve therefor I deserve. So I’m releasing all these unworthy feelings and letting in feeling abundant, feeling prosperous and good about being paid to help others.
Take a deep breath, and let it out…
Hopefully you found this helpful. And that saying, that mantra comes courtesy of Denise Duffield Thomas. I serve therefore I deserve, so repeat that mantra to yourself often and thank you very much for watching.
