In today’s post I wanted to address the belief that you have to be lucky in order to become rich or successful or both. And that’s simply not true. You create your own luck.
If you take the Beatles as an example, they seemingly came out of nowhere and became a hit band, way back in the 60’s, but the truth of the matter is, if you’re familiar with Beatles history at all, they spent approximately three or four years practicing in pubs in Hamburg. I guess at the time that was the thing to do if you were a British band. And so they had perfected their craft by the time they became huge success. Nobody saw what was going on in the background, they just all of a sudden seemingly came out of nowhere and became super successful. But there was a lot preparation that went on well before that.
That’s the case for anything. If you hope to become rich or successful, you need to let go of this belief that you have to be lucky. It often takes a lot of preparation and hard work. But hopefully, in your chosen profession it’s fun work for you, okay?
So let’s just work on this belief. Starting at the karate chop point.
Even though I have this belief, this deep seeded belief, that you have to be lucky in order to be successful and rich, I deeply and completely accept myself and all my feelings.
Even though I have this belief, that in order to be rich and successful, you have to be lucky and on an intellectual level, I don’t actually believe this, but it’s how I feel inside. And I’m choosing to let it go because it’s holding me back. I’m choosing to adopt a new belief, that persistence and consistency is the key to success and riches.
Even though I have this belief, that in order to be successful I need to have a lot of luck, and sometimes luck is a factor, being in the right place at the right time, but often success is a product of hard work, dedication, and persistence. So I’m choosing to let go of this belief.
This belief that you can only become successful with luck. I’m choosing to release this belief, that you have to be lucky in order to be successful. I’m letting go of this belief. Because on an intellectual level, I do believe, and I’ve seen plenty of examples, and read about plenty of examples of people who just never gave up. They just refuse to quit and they eventually became successful.
They may have looked like an overnight success, but the truth is they were preparing for that success maybe for a long time beforehand. Take Alexander Graham Bell for example, he attempted to create the telephone, or invent the telephone, 999 times. I might have that number wrong, but it was something like that.
So you can look at that as 998 failures or 998 tries before he finally found success. And he changed the world, he changed the world. Look at how prevalent phones are today in our society. So I’m choosing to be open to success not having anything to do with luck. I’m open to that.
Because if I believe that you need to be lucky in order to be successful, then I’ll never work for it. And the key to success is persistence, it’s constant persistence and refusing to give up. So I’m choosing a new attitude. The attitude that I will never give up, because it’s not about luck, it’s about persistence and it’s about passion. I’m choosing to allow my passion to come through and enjoy the journey. I’m choosing to enjoy this journey towards success.
It’s an opportunity to learn and become better and better. And so luck has nothing to do with it or maybe very little to do with it. There is such a thing as being in the right place at the right time but more often than not it has to do with persistence and belief in oneself, so I’m choosing to believe in myself and my ability to make my dreams come true.
I have what it takes. I am worthy of success. I may not know the exact path to take right now, but I’m choosing to be open to the idea that the path will reveal itself to me as I go and that if I stay on the path, that I will eventually reach the success I desire. I’m choosing to let go of this old belief. This old belief that it takes luck in order to succeed. I’m choosing instead to be persistent and to put myself out there and to have faith that I’ll reach my destination. I’m choosing to feel confident about that outcome.
Take a deep breath.
