Cold Calling for Small Business Owners, Entrepreneurs, WAHMs
In today’s video I want to talk about cold calling. If you’re a small business owner or self-employed, you most likely will have to do cold calls from time to time to grow your business. Perhaps these are warm calls such as follow up calls from a networking meeting or talk you’ve done or, you’re doing them for some other reason and going through the phone book to make your calls who knows.
In any case, if you’re a new small business owner, cold calling is likely something that either scares the crap out of you or, maybe you’ve been in business a while and you still find yourself with cold call reluctance. I’ve been in sales for a number of years and although I am very comfortable with cold calls, I still find myself procrastinating from time to time. So, we’ve all experienced cold call reluctance at some point or another in our lives.
Let’s do some tapping to make the process easier shall we?
Even though I don’t want to do these calls, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I’m nervous about doing these calls, what if I get rejected, or it’s a waste of time, or I screw up and lose the chance to offer my services, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I’m reluctant to make these calls, I just don’t want to do them because it’s a drag, I choose to do them anyway and reward myself when I’m done.
I don’t want to do these calls…I hate doing cold calls…I’m afraid to make these calls…why do I have to do this anyway?…ugh I just don’t want to make these calls…I don’t want to bother people…what if they reject me…
If these cold calls don’t go well I’ll feel really bad and hopeless…I will lose my enthusiasm for my business…I don’t know if I can handle that…how will I pick myself back up and keep going if these calls don’t go well…but what if they do go well…what if someone on my list is happy to hear from me?…And needs what I have to offer?
What’s the worst that can happen?…The worst would be everyone slamming the phone down on me…And it’s unlikely that will happen…Yes it’s very unlikely that will happen…most people will probably be glad to hear from me…and if they aren’t that’s okay…I can handle that…
It’s not knowing if the next opportunity to help someone is on this list of calls…even if just one person is interested it will be worth it…I choose to be open to that possibility…and maybe more will be interested…at the very least, maybe I can gather some intel and find out what people are looking for and then tweak my offer…but I still feel like cold calling is a tedious task…and it makes me nervous…
But I am open to letting this nervousness go…I choose to let this nervousness go…and allow myself to feel confident…and focus on serving these potential customers as best as I can…and if they decide to take the next step…then that would be awesome…but I am just going to let go of any expectation of outcome for now…and focus on delivering value with these calls…and just having some fun
